I would like to say thank you to those players who have made my run with Shadows of Siranda fun.
Tonight at midnight I took the server down. It has been in my thoughts for some time and tonight I made the final decision. Shadows of Siranda and we know it has died. This is due to a variety of reasons and I have been thinking about what to do for well over a month now.
This is not the end, it is merely the book closing on this chapter of the server. I don't want to have my system running twenty four hours for something that is dead. In 36 hours a grand total of one person logged in for more than five minutes, and a total of five other people logged in to look at characters and then logged out without actually entering the game. This has become a trend in the last few weeks. Instead of expending my energy watching the player lists or sitting on an empty server (my computer can't run toolset and nwn at the same time without heinous issues) I have decided that it's best to take SoS down for the time being.
I will continue to work on a facelift and some major changes to the server. Siranda has existed in many forms over the years on various different servers, under various different hosts and admins and it is a neat place, but it needs work. It needs to be our own, not the hand me down world with a banged up story that nobody knows all the details to anymore.
All characters will be stored safely on my computer for the future.
I will continue to use the forums. I will continue to ask for opinions of those players who want to communicate and take part in this. I will let people know when I'm going to be testing any changes so that people can participate in testing.
If anyone is interested in helping out with this project please let me know. If you have ideas for this, I will be creating a new section on the board here for that.
I'm not opposed to putting the server back up as is if enough people want it up, but lately it just hasn't looked like that is the case. I won't get into all the details of why people aren't on right now, I know some of them, I don't know all.
To my players I just want to say Thank You again. Enjoy your other servers, other games, work and school. Keep in touch here on the forums, I like to know how everyone is doing.
Thank you again everyone.
