due to popular demand the AFK rule is being removed. Feel free to AFK however be aware that PvP, events, pickpocketing and the like will happen and if you AFK in an area that people frequent any of these things are possible, and completely valid.
If people AFK more than they RP (I do have the logs, I can tell) than their RP token levels will be adjusted to match it. There may be more changes with this coming up soon.

I can now sit and attract players with impunity, praise the sun.
Also, can we actually check to see that players are actively AFK or ignoring RP excessively with other players, so that when someone is sitting in the server alone it's not counting against them for RP tokenage?

right now there is no way for me to look at the logs and know if they were there or not while sitting alone. If I look at the logs and see somebody log in, and do nothing at all for an hour, I will have to assume they are afk. Ways to avoid this would be to kill something, RP with yourself, or just type random messages periodically to let me know you are not AFK. Otherwise, I will assume you were sitting there AFK.

We can see if a person is AFK while there are other people logged in which is a good indicator as to whether they are refusing to RP

I'd note that you should be quite careful with 'Refusing to RP'.
Its quite possible to be in the same room as ten other players and appear silent and unmoving, just because you feel awkward jumping into a group of players who are already RPing. So if you're not actively trying to get involved or actively being asked to become involved then you could be mistaken for being AFK while actually being at the keyboard the whole time.

Hehe "Rping with yourself" that sounds like it should be dirty. And I'll hazard a comment at colpoj that most people won't mind if you DO jump in. (at least I know i'm starved for company)

Do an emote or two every ten minutes or something

Just don't complain if you die while you go AFK in the house, sometimes it happens. You put yourself at risk if someone does a event without noticing you, trying to surprise the players you know, but you might get a free raise and ported to the second floor.
