I've been thinking about running a game of Traveller, through the forums or IRC or skype, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing. For those unfamiliar with Traveller, here is the core rulebook: www.mediafire.com/?mn7ctgrldfsp87oAnd here is the universe/area I'm using, the Spinward Marches: www.mediafire.com/?bii8csjoh614oj1A few things might get houseruled as we go along. Traveller doesn't really have any increase in character power after creation, for example, but we might have it so that skills still progress through the game. It depends on what people think. Also, I'm houseruling it now: term length is halved. No one wants to be an OAP just to have decent skills. If anyone has any ideas as to what they would want in a game, post 'em here. I'm more than willing to accommodate for taste, but a few things are off-limits. No roleplaying sex (It's never, ever needed, and if it is, it'll be "Fade to black") Human only characters (Zhodani are fine). As the Game Master, I will look after character sheets and roll the dice, and the players will be given a read-only version of their sheet to prevent fudging of dice rolls. If you want to create a character now, type out the process, including every step, in this thread. I'd advise people to play a mix of character types, because you never know what wacky situations you end up in. EDIT: Robot characters are fine, but must obey the three laws of Robotics by Aasimov.

I'd be interested, Bardo would be the perfect character to rp a Space Trader!
New Bardo Krown Build:
STR: 3 DEX: 5 END: 6 INT: 13 EDU: 8 SOC: 11
Skills: Admin 1 Advocate 1 Carouse 1 Comms 1 Computers 1 Deception 1 Diplomat 0 Gambler 1 Leadership 0 Mechanic 1 Trade 0 Streetwise 1
Weapon: Stunstick
Miscellaneous Bonuses: Two Ship Shares Contact Criminal Contact
Background: Born into a relatively low standing noble family, Bardo was heir to the Krown Estate and Knighthood, granting him better standing than most peasants. His family's contacts begrudgingly found him employment as an intern in a company that was a conglomerate involved in many industries on the industrious planet Bardo was born. Bardo worked up to a Senior Management role within the Company. Hoping to achieve a Director's position, Bardo was quick to learn secrets and cultivated a criminal contact early in his career; using his knowledge of the law to their mutual benefit. These would later be his downfall, but during his progression he became deceptive and resourceful. Bardo managed to develop a nascent talent to search computer systems, allowing him to get the dirt and use it to his advantage. Bardo also gained a habit of gambling and enjoyed card games. One game led to an attempt on his life, it caused a grave injury by removing his left eye before he could be saved. The injury led to the discovery of the gambling debts Bardo had paid using money stolen from the Company; leading to Bardo's redundancy and the ambitious intelligent Knight simply took to wandering the universe. Somehow scrounging a stunstick to defend himself. After the brief sojourn, Bardo managed to gain a contact from his travels and maintain his criminal links from his early career. This gambler is now looking to manage a business so that he may win the cash and live in great comfort on the Krown Estates. Perhaps even gain social standing through some deals!

Here's the jist of Traveller. It's basically Firefly, Star Wars and Star Trek. Seventies style sci-fi adventure, set in the distant future, in a human-dominated galaxy and a crumbling interstellar empire. Anything can happen. It's based around trading in space, scavenging shipwrecks, mining asteroids, exploring unknown reaches of the galaxy, having shootouts against (or with) pirates, aliens. criminals, the military and anyone you bloody well feel like shooting. Combat is a lot more deadly, especially with firearms and lasers, so combat is fast-paced and dangerous. It's very open ended, more so than D&D, with space as the new frontier of adventure. traveller.wikia.com/wiki/Traveller_WikiAlso if I don't get enough players, the few that I have can have more than one character.
