Rumours surround the Dwarven Mage known as Vesur, the Mad Mage of Siranda. Bad Dwarf, Destroyer of Nature. Ruthless Empiricist and Vile Experimenter of the Necromantic Arts.
Arch-Wizard, some within his close circle call him. Genius and Insane, stubborn and patient.
Many hear of how he archives spells, gathering all Knowledge of Siranda, lost in the times of Plague and recovered through self study and his promotion of the Arts Arcane.
Many would cheer on, knowing that with such an archive, wizards will regain Knowledge lost to them, making them more able to bring back progress and understanding in a renaissance expelling this Dark Age of the terrors the Undead bring through better understanding.
Others would fear this archive, for Knowledge is power and some Knowledge may cost too much to bear.
Loathsome book burners and ignorant priests would seek the archive's destruction along with the one who compiled it. More so were they to hear this:
"The Fifth Echelon is complete"
With the past announcements of the first and second echelons being completed surely this must be a jest? For no one could so rapidly complete an Echelon so high after so long.
Yet we hear that not only is the Fifth complete, that the third and fourth are also done. Is this true? Perhaps it is not Vesur who has completed the archive, but another who would rival him?
The Mage of Balance, William, said to have been close to Vesur in their endeavour to archive Knowledge. Perhaps William continued the work and now he bears the fruits of the Dwarf's labours...
Rumours speak of a relationship the Dwarf has with his Murderess, the delightful Atiya. An elven cleric with great power, said to be his love through a bond of pursuing Knowledge. Perhaps she would know better of this truth.
Vesur was proven to be in league with the Banites, a deal struck with no apparent goal in its nature. Vesur was nonetheless found hiding the presence of the one who destroyed Niamh's protections upon her grove. Maybe the Banites hoped to use the Dwarf's archive to sway young Wizards to their ranks.
Lucien, Master of Kalaram, Governor of the Revived City State. He was said to be Vesur's ally. Knowing the cunning Genasi, Vesur was swayed by the promise of his Archive's protection and unlimited scope of research he could conduct. Perhaps Lucien knows of the archive better than most.
Balthasar, the reclusive Mage known to have taken Vesur in to his home beyond this plane yet trapped with this isle. Maybe his libraries in the other dimension holds the full archive...
Zenstone, said to have captured Vesur alive long ago. A Kelemvorite Cleric vowed to seek out and destroy undeath in all forms. This may be his trap or perhaps the escape of a truth that the Fifth Echelon is indeed known to provoke Zenstone into seeking its truth and preventing the Dwarven Mage from animating the dead...
