"You're a rather interesting lady for an Ilmatari Knight" the captain chuckled, looking out over the ocean. Jacia layed sprawled out over the bowsprit, calmly taking in the ocean air without a care at that moment. Her outfit was a midriff design that she had exchanged with a local bard back at the city of Waterdeep when she found out she would be traveling.
"Well, that's because I'm different from the others..." Jacia hopped down onto the shipdeck, looking directly at the captain with a calm expression. It was true enough though- she had been of noble birth, a commodity typically unheard of within the Ilmatari faith. Nobles could afford the service of more expensive and luxurious deities such as Torm while his compatriot was considered filth by the upper class, who could not understand their own excess. "I'm actually from noble birthrights."
The captain laughed at this, smiling as he raised an eyebrow, "and how did M'lady get into the Ilmatari faith if she lives a life opposed to them?"
Jacia herself chuckled slighty at this as she responded, "I was traveling with one of my bodyguards actually when a small group of brigands managed to cut him down. They had taken quite litterally everything from my being, and I was more or less backed into a corner covering myself when this young man in gray robes approached, telling the criminals to remove themselves from the premesis immediatly and to return my belongings... Obviously the brigands changed their attention to him, and didn't even bother to use weapons as they began to beat the poor man into the ground. I remember crying, begging them to leave the poor man alone when suddenly a bolt pierced through one of the brigand's throats. As hard as it is to believe, a member of Waterdeep's theives guild was protecting the poor Ilmatari, and when everyone had been dealt with, my belongings returned, they asked nothing of me other than to keep safe-"
"I still don't see how that made you join them." The captain butted in before returning to his silence, listening closely.
"Well... I was without my guard in a rather bad part of Waterdeep, and I felt I should have at least helped the poor fellow back to wherever he originated. Needless to say, a half hour's walking later and we were inside a small shack, a half dozen other clergy tending to the sick and wounded. I was admittedly scared at first, having rarely seen such a sight, but something about the man's presence managed to keep me calm and collected as we spoke about various things, joked a bit... I was quite surprised when they actually thanked me for helping get him back to the shack, even though they knew the story, and knew that I should have been thanking them..."
"And so you joined them as a knight?"
"Not exactly. I learned more about them first, and eventually opted to pledge myself to the Ilmatari faith... Mother and Father disowned me after that, so-"
"Your parents disowned you for-"
"Yes... Yes, they did... They were planning to marry me off to a... Relatively nice gentleman for power reasons when they found out I had taken the Vow of Purity under Ilmater... Needless to say, being an only child it was a huge embaressment to my family name, and due to my Vows no church in the city would wed us, a huge disgrace in the city... It would have been another story if I had joined Torm or Lathander, but Ilmater is seen as a... Lesser when it comes to the upper social classes, and so my parents in a fit of rage disowned me, threw me out on the streets with nothing but the clothes on my back and a half a loaf of bread."
"So you turned to the temple?"
"Not so much me turning to the temple as the temple turning to me... They were... Actually waiting for me when my parents had me thrown out of the house. Not the clergy I knew either, but a group of knights... After quick introductions they told me they wanted me to join them, and after finding out more about them, I couldn't turn down such an offer and as such became a squire in the service of one of their knight commanders. The rest is a bit of a boring story regarding my studies and taking other vows, and I think you'd prefer to be on your way since it's getting later..."
The captain looked at the sky, noticing the sun going down as he began to bark out orders, leaving the young woman alone...
The next day, supplies were running low, the gray fog in the distance had taken them some time to get around. They'd be able to ration off remaining supplies until they arrived at the destination, but it would have been better to have more. Thus, after some convincing, Jacia volunteered to set off into the gray fog towards the thought-to-be-abandoned island of Siranda. She was not necesarily surprised by the undead on the island, so much as the fact that she had become stuck...

(Jay-shee-ah Len-day-tah)
Race: Human
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Height: Slightly taller than average
Skin Tone: Almost Pale
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blonde
Place of Birth: Somewhere near Waterdeep
Religion/Deity: Ilmater, The One Who Endures
General Alignment: Lawful Good
Occupation: Knight of The Companions of the Noble Heart
//While Jacia physically calls herself a "knight" she is in fact trained to be and acts as a paladin, and thus is considered a paladin for all states and purposes other than title.\\
Current Rank: Knight Sergeant
Appearance: Jacia is almost always found in one of two outfits-Heavy armor with a large weapon and red coil around her hands, or in a light flowing tunic of some sort. She has no hallmarks to suggest her allegiances to Ilmater. Like most worshippers of Ilmater, she wouldn't dress over lavishly, though she does take some freedoms in her outfit. Her body is seemingly free of any markings, and her hair is kept in an orderly shoulder-length fashion.
Physique: The best way to describe Jacia is of being of Noble Descent. Her muscles appear rather strong when in action, but during rest, and especially if she is wearing her more relaxing attire, one could easily confuse her with a bard, or noble of some sort due to her frame. Aside from her muscles, one might notice that when outside of her platemail, her appearance is rather feminine.
Mental: Jacia is best described as an orderly young woman who takes pride in her work. She holds herself in an air of authority, taking the position of leadership if offered to her whether in the form of a conversation or in the battling of a foe. While the stereotype of Tormite Paladins would speak differently, Jacia isn't arrogant. She has a tendency to enjoy humor, even that of a darker background. Jacia can occasionaly be flirtatious with others, but does so in good humor, and makes such quite clear. While the young paladin is quite playful and curious, she can become very serious when the need calls for it, or should one step upon her boundaries. In this more serious mood, she seems to be much darker, and to an extent, zealous, though it is rare to see her in such a mood.
Jacia, as one of Ilmater's Faithful, has taken the vow of Purity. She must remain chaste, show fidelity, and be free of drugs/alcohol.
She has also taken a modified vow of poverty which she refers to as the Vow of Charity. While she allows herself to maintain a more collected style of living, such as the use of magical items and similar effects, she does not indulge in excess and will give away anything she does not find commonplace use in to others.
As a member of The Companions of the Noble Heart she has abstained from taking the vow of Peace, as it would prevent her from being able to perform her duties. She garuntees that she will take it when fighting is no longer necesary or should she ever retire from her position as a knight.
