The Fugue... Claire smiled as she found herself within this plane. She had long since awaited this moment, knowing fully what would happen. Creed's lust for blood would seem to be her downfall, but she had allowed him to kill her so that she could rise from the dead, stronger yet and unknown to the majority of survivors... It took her some time, but she fought off the urge to pray, to forget, knowing that she would be back in the realms of mortals soon enough... An Erinyes appeared from the fog, wrapping herself around the Banite, whispering in her ear...
"Your time has come, pet... You might hold that pact over me, but when your soul travels to hell, you will be mine... There is no escape for the likes of you..." She ran her clawed fingers over Claire's throat, up her chin as she chuckled...
"Not yet, Sen... We have a contract, one that I'm expecting you to maintain if you want it ended... You understand the consequences if I were to ever return to that island, I'm sure." She smirked, watching Erinyes pull away from her with a hiss, watching her closely. This was true, she knew that the woman had friends on the mainland capable of bringing her back from death...
"Very will... Mistress... And where shall we go?"
"To the City of Judgment... I will not wait for my sentence... My lord knows of our pact, knows that you have a duty to maintain..."
...
"Avarice, Sin, Murder, Theft, Torture, Treachery, Lust, Attempting to Bypass Death, Treason, Necromancy, Consorting with Devils, Suicide..." The list went on for quite some time, his face unchanging as he read through it. "Do you have anything to say for your actions in life?"
Claire looked at him directly, never turning away as she spoke but one word... "No."
"Very well..." He paused as his assistant handed him the records. "You are loyal to Bane even in death... Thus you may pray, and be sent to Banehold for further use by your lord's machinations-"
"If I may interject..." The Erinyes called out as she barged in, looking at the god of death and his assistant. She was cocky, brash... Few devils dared to intervene in the proceedings... "Lord Kelemvor, you know fully that unless his men and women are champions of his cause, they are added to the devilish ranks as healers and grunts for our front lines... T'was agreed upon ages ago. This one... Is obviously not Worthy of being Bane's champion, and has a deal already struck to serve our front lines... I would request she be sent with me back to Nesus... To be prepared to fight in the Abyss." She smirked, knowing that she was correct in these matters as she awaited the god of judgment's decision...
He paused for a minute, his face expressionless as he stared at Claire. "I am aware of these agreements... Very well, for your crimes, and in the name of your deity you are hereby sent to Nessus to await further instructions. And you, Erinyes... Are not to interrupt my court or I will have my faithful throw you out..."
...
CRACK! A splitting thunder... Feelings of vertigo swept through her as bile pooled on the ground in front of her. The world around her was blurry, she couldn't make out any shapes... The Banite looked up for but a moment before the Erinyes grabbed her by the hair, forcing her up, making the Banite turn around and meet her gaze...
"You are mine now on this plane of existence... I demand you release me from this contract." Claire had never seen the rage in her former servant's eyes before, and continued to stare into them with a smirk for a moment before responding...
"But of course, Sen, just give me a quill and..." CRACK! Claire felt a horrible pain, her vision blurring once more as something crimson ran down her face. She reached up, feeling deep claw marks having narrowly avoided blinding her. She screamed as the pain hit her full-on, some sort of poison burning inside the wounds... Moments passed by before her regeneration finally closed off the wounds...
"You will address me as Mistress!" The Erinyes hissed as she kicked Claire in the stomach with great force, more bile, blood pooling on the floor...
Claire reached to her stomach, hissing as the wind was knocked out of her, the taloned claws on her feet barely piercing her flesh leaving fresh wounds, a burning once more... She looked up at her former servant, the same level of hatred in her eyes as she spoke. "Yes... Mistress..." The words burned, tasted of treachery as she spoke. She didn't truly mean them, but didn't relish the idea of further needless punishment.
The Erinyes laughed, reveling in her power over her former master before producing a quill and ink, their contract appearing in front of the two... "Sign it then, my pet... You -will- free me from this servitude." Claire looked over it, ensuring that the Erinyes hadn't changed anything before sighing in defeat. Losing her servant would be a small price to pay in exchange for safe passage to her destination...
"Yes... Mistress..." Claire reached for the pen, grasping it tightly, seething hatred at the words she had been forced to speak as she dipped it in the ink, reaching for the paper...
"You will do no such thing!" The cavern boomed slightly... Claire's vision began to return, seeing more than the Erinyes in front of her... They were in some sort of tower, lava flows with patches of ice in them drifted outside. She wasn't interested in such things though as she looked to the Erinyes, her servant's face contorted in horror, fear as she seemed to stare at someone. Turning around, Claire found her eyes meeting those of a Pit Fiend, a lower general most likely... "Sen... I see you return with another worthless maggot to fill our ranks... Tell me, why is this one not a Lemure?"
"M... My apologies M'lord. I planned to do so immediately after she had ended our binding-"
"Contract?" He chuckled slightly, the Erinyes' eyes filled with horror... "I've known about your contracts you've been signing with mortals for some time... Claiming souls for yourself in order to try and raise your own rank through them... You will be punished accordingly... I plan to send you both to the Blood Rift soon, let this one keep their mortal body for a time yet, it will be amusing to see a human fighting demons, and their being turned into a Lemure would only lessen their capabilities... For now."
Claire remained silent, putting on a face as if she were horrified, but knowing that this was exactly what she had wanted. Her internal grin was hidden quite well as she looked up at the Pit Fiend.
"What is your name, maggot?" He barked out, his voice stern, but with a hidden sense of amusement. Claire knew she had to answer... While banishing the Erinyes was easy work, this fiend was another story... She looked up at him, her eyes resigned in defeat as she tried to put on an act, get on his good side...
"It is Kramanod'k M'lord." Her voice was higher pitched, she put on the sound of innocence as she looked at him, forming a look of fear on her face to go along with her act.
"You cannot fool a devil, Banite... I know your kind. Sen actually delivered two of your clergy to us a little over a decade ago, I'm sure they're -dieing- to see you." He chuckled, a malicious grin on his face.
Two Lemures entered into the room, lunging at the Banite. Her mind reeled for a moment until she looked into the one's eyes, noticing the hate, the taint in them... Revenge was a cruel thing indeed. They began to pull at her armor as her mind reeled back into reality, she began to breathe quicker knocking away the two devils. "W...Wait! Don't leave me with these two, please, I won't fight your order, I'll submit... Just don't leave me here with them, M'lord!" Her eyes were frantic, she wasn't completely sure of what she had said as the two Lemures dissapeared, the pit fiend looking down at her.
"That's what I like to hear..."
...
It was a few gates later and many a portal before the three arrived at the rift between hell and the abyss. Claire found her armor returned to her in death as she looked at the encampment, a lava rift nearby, Styx on the other side of it, and dead bodies being built up into fortifications by imps and the lesser Baatezu below. This was it...
The pit fiend dragged her into camp, the devils crowding around, curiously looking at her. "Get back to your station, you blubbering pussbuckets!" The Pit Fiend yelled out in infernal as the devils quickly departed, fearing his wrath... The Banite found herself dragged to the local armorer, equipped, and then out in the field...
"Have you seen the new recruit?"
"A human... pfft... Wonder what the boss is planning with that one..."
"Probably a personal slave, I hear Sen caught her before Kelemvor could finish his judgement."
"Well, the bitch is probably worthless, if I didn't fear the boss's wrath I'd tap it..."
The lowly devils continued to gibber among themselves in infernal, unaware that Claire could understand them... Since her arrival in hell, the Banite had begun to lose faith in the Black Hand, making her prayers but feeling no presence. Claire knew that the devils had some level of honor, but she trusted no one... She kept one eye on them while the other was focused on the fields ahead of them... something moved in the distance...
"What the... Wait, those are..." Her eyes grew wide, the strange beings quickly approaching over the hillside... "Yugoloths!" She cried out in infernal, the other devils growing silent and sharpening their weapons, drawing their bows. Someone in the distance began shouting orders as the catapults fired, killing groups of the demons as the swarms pressed on.
"Treacherous dogs!" The pitfiend growled as he ordered his men to their stations looking accross the field as he launched fireballs into the swarm...
Claire began to pray, calling to her deity... Banehold was so close to Hell, perhaps, just maybe... She felt a surge of energy as she began her incantations, prayers to the Black Lord as a hammer-like blast of light hit the Yugoloths, stunning a few of them... Her plans were possible yet!
Blood, carnage, the thrill of battle... Many devils were reduced back into Nupperibos on that day. Claire had a look of glee as she began hauling the bodies into the corpse-pile for a natural defensive wall, a deformed skeleton she had formed from demon bones tagging along. The Pit fiend smirked slightly, knowing that the human could provide some use yet, having survived the onslaught and saving a few middle-class demons in the process... Though he wouldn't admit such a thing.
While cleaning out the bodies, she found what she was looking for... A dead Amnizu and Succubus within the battlefield. She had her horrific creation drag them away from the field, ordered it to skin the succubus and cut off the Amnizu's head. Claire knew the power in what she was doing, and knew that all the devils were too busy cleaning up corpses to notice her creation missing.
"Night" came as she sighed, resigning to the bedroll she had been provided. The winds bleated above, the snoring of Devils around her, but otherwise... Silence.
...
Only a few days in and she had recieved permission to use the forge... The other devils likely assumed that she needed to repair her weapon and armour, little could they have known about her creation... Claire had skinned the succubus, drawing water from the river styx, and lava from the nearby stream using the Amnizu's head... Her reason for coming to the hells almost complete as she placed her small necklace on the forge, heating it, striking at it... Heating it again. She grafted the skin of the succubus into the amulet, with each crack of her hammer, it seemed to turn into a gem-like substance, melding with the necklace... Gold she had found on the dead Baatezu used to her own ends, smelted and worked into the amulet...
"The fires of another plane, used to forge this amulet, skin of the succubus to enhance its power, gold of the devils, his allies, to show loyalty to the Black Hand. And my prayers..."
The Banite began to pray in front of the amulet, feeling the dark magics work their way into it, seeping into the amulet's very core... Hours passed, she was supposed to be sleeping, but this moment was all too important for her... As she felt enough energy seep in, she cast spell resistance on it, watching the resistance seem to seep into the demon skin, meld with the dark energies and enhance them past their normal limits... Quickly, she heated the amulet once more before placing it in the styxwater, watching steam sizzle into the air... When the amulet had thouroughly cooled down, she wiped the sweat from her brow, a look of content passing over her. Using a pair of callipers, she pulled out the amulet, drying it off with her cloak before placing it around her neck... It was heavy, but irradiated with unholy energies, invigorating... "It worked," she sighed, her eyes closed as she stretched.
"What worked?" A voice called out. A look of fear, resentment passing over her as she turned around, an Amnizu looking over her.
"N...Nothing M'lord. I just finished repairing my weapons and-"
"What is that around your neck?" He reached for it, hissing as the dark energies of Bane prevented his hand from holding onto the amulet...
"It... It's a gift from The Dark Lord, M'lord."
"I'm not allowing a lowly human to own something of that magnitude... Hand it over." Claire hesitated, the amulet was the reason she had allowed Creed to kill her, the reason she had gone through with her subservience for so long... In her moment of hesitence, the devil grabbed ahold of her arm and dragged her out into the camp towards one of the tents... She had seen insubordinate devils taken to it on multiple occasions as she writhed in his grip, trying to escape...
...
Scars littered her body, her equipment left in a corner as she wore nothing but the amulet and torn rags... Her arms were bound so that she hung steadily from them, an acidic cloth in her mouth keeping her gagged as she looked around, dazed, fatigued... It had been two days since she was placed in the tent, an Erinyes sat in the corner, holding a whip in one hand, a club in the other as she yawned, looking around...
Suddenly, struggling, the one Erinyes is forced to the ground, another ripping out her throat with her claws...
"Get up." She says with a hint of fear in her voice, looking around... "I said get up!"
She slowly lifts herself, putting on her equipment as she looks at the Erinyes...
"We're leaving. There's a gate back to hell nearby... We'll just have to lay low for a day or two..."
"What's going on...?" Claire asks, her voice raspy as she takes out her canteen, drinking down the warm water, the taste of ash permeating it.
"Yugoloths... Lots of them. They're invading soon, a perfect opportunity for us to get out of here."
"You have everything to lose in this arrangement, why help me now of all times...?"
The Erinyes pauses, thinking for a moment before responding. "My job isn't tied to these wars, I should be out tempting mortals not sitting by a wall of bodies looking for demons... I also have an excuse to maintain my rank, I -am- under contract after all..."
The Banite nods as the two depart quickly, leaving as little trace of their escape as possible, the Erinyes leading her back to hell...
RP reasoning behind enchantments
CHA +4/AC +6 --- The amulet is taking the previous powers of the entrancing gem, and restructuring them. The latent powers of the succubus skin grafted into it make the wearer more enthralling. While the amulet does thicken the skin of whomever wears it, it is also this enthralling effect making people less willing to harm the wearer that provide the bonus to AC.
Cleric Spellslots --- These spellslots show a direct correlation to her time she spent praying, and the nature of the amulet. Due to the location in which is was made, the amulet has quite litterally made a connection to the hells and Banehold, and thus this divine connection allows her to pray more directly to her deity for spells.
Dominate Person --- Charm person is a spell that makes the wearer more friendly towards the one who cast it. Entrancing Gems have this latent spell. The dominating effects of this amulet are derived from its malevolent design. Instead of urging the victim to look to her for advice, the amulet instead allows her to directly force her will upon another, dominating it completely for a time... The styxwater that the amulet was bathed in only serves to seal this effect to the person.
Persuade +4 --- Just as the amulet directly gives Claire a more enthralling presence, so too does it help improve her seductive skills. This bonus represents how the amulet serves to increase her confidence, and how the latent powers of the succubus shine through once more.
Spell Resistance 32 --- Demons are naturally resistant to spells. Claire figured out how to abuse this fact by mixing the succubus skin with a boatload of dark energies. This combination made the resistance seem to soak out to stop the dark energy from entering it. When spell resistance was cast on the amulet, the dark energies became trapped between the two layers and melded with the amulet, superenhancing the amulet's abilities to shrug off spells.
Weight Increase --- Aside from the gem with its demonskin cover, the amulet is made from quite a bit of gold. The weight represents the burden of creation, and how the amulet is very dense to store so much energy within it.
