The mysterious character known as Grizwauld, an eccentric Dwarven Wizard who tends to shout too much, is an enigma to most. Seemingly obsessed with a hitherto unknown villain called Darrian; to some they may doubt this foe's existence. Grizwauld's absence from the house during long periods counts as a blessing to those who need the peace and quiet.
However, Grizwauld is a guise; unknown to any survivor, save two, Vesur donned this pseudonym and new behaviour to allow him to perform his more subtle experiments. Experiments on the hearts and minds of those he was interested in. Grooming some as he had groomed Atiya to be a possibly useful ally, or for a promising Wizard; an apprentice, one far younger and more powerful.
Nonetheless, these infinite schemes and eccentric disguises are unknown to the reader, for their mention is merely to allow you fathom the mind of the Mad Mage. All this text will help you understand is that out of character, you know what you may expect from Vesur.
Vesur has lived on this island for years, some in the afterlife, and recently trapped in a new model of the universe. One which allows him to disregard Morals as never before; the restrictions he places upon himself, merely to ensure his continued survival amongst beings he considers nothing more than figments in a realm of lies.
At least one was spent having access to the Wizard's Tower in Ringwood, access to the Hidden Sanctum of the Chronomancer Balthasar. Vesur was forced to leave, due to Balthasar's fears that the murdered and subsequent study of Lanae's Dragon-Blood corpse may lead to the Chronomancer being implicated.
So far, should Lanae or Lucien know this, they have not acted upon it in the past. Perhaps their current actions imply they knew yet they needed a good reason to go for the Dwarf during Vesur's time in what Lucien would deem an alliance, Vesur would deem as something both parties would eventually terminate.
Nonetheless, Vesur needs a new home, a place to call his own. Where his Dark Experiments may not be seen in the light, until their results need publishing. A place where any may attempt to go to, but should they not succeed in reaching it; enjoy defending themselves from a horde of the Undead serving as useful guardians. A maze with the Sanctum in the middle, and a complex system to make the maze impossible to have the same route to his Sanctum.
Vesur first needed a place to begin his ambitious project, a Dwarf is naturally more comfortable underground, Vesur decided that a mine would be the best location to create the Maze.
Thus, the Underrealm was explored as he sought a mine that would be made a Labyrinth...
